AMARNA WATER JAR

Inspired by blue-painted storage vessels from the New Kingdom — specifically the brief but wildly expressive Amarna Period under Akhenaten — this piece resurrects a moment in history when Egyptian art abandoned rigid formality and embraced movement, tenderness, and color. The softly eroded surface speaks to centuries of imagined handling, while the floral motifs drifting across the shoulders recall the ceremonial jars believed to have held wine or beer at royal banquets. Along the neck, a zigzag band quietly references the ancient hieroglyph for water — a clever indicator used by Egyptian artisans to denote that something cool and refreshing rested inside. Dimensions: 15.5 inches wide. 13 inches high. Material: Clay
